Summer is supposed to be a time of year in which students can kick back and relax, or at least take a break from studies. That’s how it used to be. Unfortunately, as time goes on, for many students, the need to continue their education in the summer is becoming a bigger and bigger need. Now, instead of summer classes being strictly populated by overachievers and those desperate to graduate on time, more and more regular students are needing to spend their precious summer time in class.
However, this doesn’t need to be the case. Students can eliminate the need to spend all summer in class. There is a better way. It’s called CLEP. CLEP, or the College-Level Examination Program, allows students to earn credit for a class by doing well on an exam. These CLEP exams, while college level, do not require a student to sit in a semester long class to earn the credit. Many students find that they can prepare for and pass a CLEP exam within a few weeks, rather than an entire semester. For each successful CLEP test, a student can earn between 3 and 12 college credits. The other benefit is that CLEPs are inexpensive, costing less than $80 per CLEP exam.
Students facing the prospect of a summer full of classes and studying should consider CLEPping out instead. Students can do this any time of year, whether in the summer, or even in the fall or spring. By taking a CLEP or two in the fall and spring, students can eliminate the need for taking a course in the summer. Even if the student gets to summer with the need to earn some credit, taking a CLEP test in the summer can save the student a month or two.
By taking a CLEP, students no longer need to be stuck in class all summer long. You can enjoy your summer, thanks to CLEP!
